Compensation for atmospheric appropriation

چکیده
Abstract Research on carbon inequalities shows that some countries are overshooting their fair share of the remaining budget and hold disproportionate responsibility for climate breakdown. Scholars argue owe compensation or reparations to undershooting atmospheric appropriation climate-related damages. Here we develop a procedure quantify level owed in ‘net zero’ scenario where all decarbonize by 2050, using prices from IPCC scenarios limit global warming 1.5 °C tracking cumulative emissions 1960 across 168 countries. We find even this ambitious scenario, North would overshoot its collective equality-based factor three, appropriating half South’s process. calculate US$192 trillion be South shares with an average disbursement those US$940 per capita year. also examine countries’ 350 ppm 2 budgets earlier later starting years (1850 1992) comparison.

Linear Phase Conjugation for Atmospheric Aberration Compensation
Northrop Grumman reports on a program utilizing Linear Phase Conjugation to compensate for atmospheric induced aberrations that severely limit laser performance. In a program to improve both the beam quality and laser energy delivered to the target, Northrop Grumman has developed a novel aberration compensation technique. This technique, hereafter referred to as Active Tracking System, utilizes...
متن کاملCompensation of Hyperspectral Data for Atmospheric Effects
■ Hyperspectral imaging sensors are used to detect and identify diverse surface materials, topographical features, and geological features. Because the intervening atmosphere poses an obstacle to the retrieval of surface reflectance data, algorithms exist to compensate the measured signal for the effects of the atmosphere. This article provides an overview and an evaluation of available atmosph...
متن کاملA spectral climatology for atmospheric compensation
Most Earth observation hyperspectral imagery (HSI) detection and identification algorithms depend critically upon a robust atmospheric compensation capability to correct for the effects of the atmosphere on the radiance signal. Most atmospheric compensation methods perform optimally when ancillary ground truth data are available, e.g., high fidelity in situ radiometric observations or atmospher...
متن کاملAtmospheric dispersion compensation for extremely large telescopes.
Achieving diffraction limited imaging with future ground-based optical telescopes will require adaptive optics for correction of atmospheric turbulence and also efficient techniques for atmospheric dispersion compensation. We study the benefit of using a linear atmospheric dispersion corrector (ADC) coupled with a deformable mirror on a 42-m Extremely Large Telescope (ELT) operating in the VIRJ...
متن کاملAtmospheric-Turbulence Compensation Experiments Using Cooperative Beacons
III Lincoln Laboratory recently completed the three-year Short-Wavelength Adaptive Techniques (SWAT) field program, designed to investigate the performance of adaptive optics in a variety of scenarios. This article describes the operation of the SWAT adaptive optics system working with cooperative beacons. Examples are presented of system operation in compensating star images and in propagating...
